We would like to take the time to recognize and thank our seniors for their hard work and dedication they have brought to our team in their time with us. The impact these student athletes have made and continue to make on our program will be remembered and missed as they move on to the next stages in their lives. Join us in celebrating them. We wish you all the greatest success in your future endeavors, once a nighthawk always a nighthawk!

  • Aden Kaimer

    Aden is in his 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter His favorite memory on the team was winning Palomar league championships in the 4 x 4 it was a great race. His advice to a younger teammate is, “You’re not defined by just your labels.” Outside of track, Aden is apart of CIA (Christians in Action), FCA ( Fellowship of Christian athletes) and Make a wish club. His favorite quote from Coach Stephen is “Do you want to be good or great?” He would like to attend a four year university and go to a division one track and field program, afterwards go to law school to become a patent attorney. Aden would like to thank Jackie Kaimer, Jason Kaimer, Paul Mauer, Coach Stephen and Coach Ruby.

  • Aarit Babu

    Aarit is in his 2nd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memories on the team are the bus rides with his friends on the way back from away meets. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Enjoy every meet, workout, and lactic cause they'll go by faster than you think.” Outside of track, Aarit is apart of National Honors Society (NHS) and a club he started, Trail Norte to go out and build/restore outdoor trails. The best advice he has gotten, comes from Coach Stephen, “The only person I'm racing against is myself.” He has plans to attend a four year university to pursue Mechanical Engineering. Aarit would like to thank Coach Ruby and Coach Stephen for every practice and workout they put him through to make him the best version of himself. He'd also like to thank his friends for pushing him every single day and giving him the confidence to set new PR's each race.

  • Aidan Delgado

    Aidan is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team was The last meet of sophomore year season against San Marcos at home (2023) when I made varsity time for the 800 then had some good wings after. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Don't take stuff too seriously or else you won't have fun.” Aidan would like to thank his coaches, family, and friends on the team for making this whole thing so fun.

  • Alex Guerra

    Alex is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a Hurdler. His favorite memory on the team was running a varsity time I the 300 hurdles at the last dual meet of Junior year. His advice to a younger teammate is, “The best way to improve is to be dedicated to a consistent plan.” Outside of track, Alex is apart of National Honors Society (NHS). He has plans to pursue civil engineering and hopefully track in college. Alex would like to thank his family, teammates, and Coaches Ruby, Stephen, and Cisco for pushing me to be the best athlete I could.

  • Alexander Walicki

    Alex is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memory on the team was Breaking my wrist in the 400 meter race freshman year. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Help out the team as much as you can.” His favorite quote comes from Coach Stephen, “The faster you run the faster you're done.” After graduating, he has plans to go to University of New Mexico, and serve time in the navy. Alex would like to thank himself.

  • Ben Abraham

    Ben is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team was medaling in the invite DMR at Frosh-Soph his freshman year. “I was anchoring with the mile leg and was handed the baton a position off the medal. I remember sprinting up to the guy ahead of me and staying on his back for the entire race. The last lap was a blur but in the end, I brought home the medal as well as a 5-second personal record running a 5 flat mile.” His advice to a younger teammate is, "Every race is an opportunity so give it your all no matter how big or small the race seems." Outside of track, Ben is apart of Link Crew, Boys Team Charity, and Soccer. Ben would like to thank his family for always showing up and supporting him, his friends who have always been by his side, and his coaches (especially Coach Mark) for never losing faith in him.

  • Bryce Dorman

    Bryce is in his 2nd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memory on the team was Running the 4x1 last year. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Go to winter track.” Outside of track, Bryce is apart of Trail Norte (club), and Del Norte Boys Tennis. He has plans to attend College, and study Applied Math. The best advice he got, came from Coach Ruby, “When you feel like you can’t run anymore swing your arms as hard as you can.” Bryce would like to thank Coach Stephen and Coach Jacobs for motivating him and giving him crucial advice that greatly helped him improve. He would also would like to thank his parents for being supportive, showing up to his meets and encouraging him to do better.

  • Charlie Bowers

    Charlie is in his 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter, thrower, jumper and hurdler. His favorite memories on the team are being able to learn so many things and make many friends in all my different events. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Find your comfort and strength in God to better achieve your goals.” The best advice he has gotten, comes from all of his coaches “To just do things as fast as you can.” Charlie would like to thank God, his family and his coaches.

  • Emily Russo

    Emily is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. Her favorite memory on the team was Being the first California 4x800 state champions. And trips to Nike Outdoor Nationals including a National title. Her advice to a younger teammate is, “Have fun and don’t let the bad races and bad days weigh you down, you just gotta keep working hard, the results will come” Her favorite coach quotes are, “Track is not fun”… “Don’t run in lane zero”… “It’s all mental”…After graduating, Emily plans to attending SDSU pursuing a degree in education and running on their track & field and cross country teams. Emily would like to thank her many coaches Mark, Pablo, Cj, Emily, Ruby, and Stephen for pushing her and believing in her even when she didn’t herself. She would also like to thank her teammates for always making the most brutal practices fun. And she lastly would like to thank her parents and grandparents for coming to every single meet, supporting her as she ran however many laps 1-8.

    Heidi is in her 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. Her favorite memory on the team is “being able to meet and spend time with people that I would've otherwise not gotten the chance to meet if it weren't for track.” Her advice to a younger teammate is, “Run your race.” Outside of track, Heidi is also apart of National Honors Society. After graduating, Heidi plans to attend a four-year university to major in Biology and hopefully go to med school in the future. Heidi would like to thank her family for supporting her interests, no matter how random they are. She would also like to thank her best friend Kaylee for being there whenever she just needs someone to talk to.

  • Kaden Barnett

    Kaden is in his 2nd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memory on the team is getting food after every meet. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Give 100% everyday to everything.” Outside of track, Kaden is also apart of the football team. The best advice he has gotten, comes from Coach Stephen, “Just run fast.” Kaden would like to thank his mom and dad, day 1.

  • Kaylee Rebugio

    Kaylee is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. Her favorite memory on the team was Breaking the 4x1 school record and getting my PRs in the 100 and 200 all at D1 Championships last year. Her advice to a younger teammate is, “Don’t doubt yourself. You’re faster than you think.” Outside of track, Kaylee is also apart of Soccer and NHS. Kaylee would like to thank her parents for being her biggest supporters, especially her dad for being the reason why she joined track and always buying her new spikes, her teammates, Coach Stephen, and Coach Ruby.

    Keira is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a pole vaulter. Her favorite memory on the team was going to Reno before season and spending time with her teammates. Her advice to a younger teammate is, “Just enjoy your time while it lasts.” Her favorite quote comes from Coach Ngo, “I wouldn't tell you to do it if I didn’t believe you could” Keira would like to thank her family, Coach Ngo and her friends.

    Kyle is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memories on the team have been training in the off season between junior and senior year with my friends His advice to a younger teammate is, “Always has been and always will be you versus you.” He has plans to Study civil engineering at UCI. Kyle would like to thank his family for showing up to my races and cheering me on.

  • Luke Jin

    Luke is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team was during the Frosh/Soph meet his sophomore year when he was able to put himself out there in the mile and started sprinting 1000 meters into the race. Although he got third in the end, he liked how he pushed through discomfort and gave himself a chance to win. He also was able to get third in the 2 mile and 4x400 later on that same day. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Trust in the training, although sometimes results might not show immediately, you will see progress eventually.” Outside of track, Luke is also apart of Asb, link crew, south Asian culture club. The best advice he has received comes from Coach Mark, “Run with confidence.” and “Put yourself out there.” Luke would like to thank Everyone that have helped me along the way.

  • Mathew Pham

    Mathew is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team is chasing after the google maps car on a long run with Jean, Jun, and Tay. His advice to a younger teammate is, “To relax more before races and foam roll after practice.” Outside of track, Mathew is apart of Kampamilya and bjj. His favorite advice from Coach Mark is “You always have another gear it’s just mental”After graduating he plans to Study political science and enjoy college. Mathew would like to thank his family for always supporting him, Tay for saying his splits, and Coach Mark and Pablo for giving him good race advice.

  • Mayte Hernandez Guerro

    Mayte is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. Her favorite memory on the team was “My favorite track memory was probably freshman year at Frosh/Soph when me, Naja, Hailey, and Shrivani ran the DMR together and medaled. The DMR is one of my favorite events in track and it was my first time running it, I was in the 800. The day had felt very energized and hyped that the excitement I felt throughout that race was a feeling I simply loved. I also have just always enjoyed being able to run with my teammates, given the opportunity to make such great connections and memories with amazing people and friends. I especially loved the bonding runners can have with other members of other teams, always hyping each other up before and after a race. Running really does bring people together which is one of the reasons I really love this supportive and amazing sport/team.” Her advice to a younger teammate is, “Always be proud of yourself no matter what. Sometimes you're going to feel that pressure to be at a certain level, get a certain time, or place at a certain spot that you end up stressing out and not enjoying what you're doing at the end of the day. Everything takes time and even when it's frustrating, breathe and acknowledge all you accomplished and have worked for. If you simply continue to work hard and have fun with what you love to do, you'll see the progress and growth you hope for so don't be afraid to be proud of your own self for once--you deserve it!" Outside of track, Mayte is also apart of cross country, the Latino Culture Club, and Color Guard. Her favorite coach quotes are, from Coach Jacobs: "Track is hard, XC is hard, what we do is hard. But that's why we gotta work hard to get stronger." And also when Coach Pablo gave me, Naja, and Luna a motivational speech in Spanish for the first time ever (sorry Pablo haha). After graduating, Mayte plans to attend a 4-year university to major in political science and international relations, focused on pre-law to later attend law school. Mayte would like to thank her family for always being there for her to support her, especially her dad who would always find a way to come see and support her at every meet and be her number one supporter. She’d like to thank Coach Jacobs, Coach Mark, and Coach Pablo for always being there to motivate and push her through to be the best athlete she can be, helping her grow both as a runner and person. She’d also like to thank her friends/teammates for all the amazing memories they’ve made together through Track.

  • Miguel Villa Hernandez

    Miguel is in his 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memory on the team was Going to Canes after a meet and getting to eat and spend time with the whole team. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Enjoy every practice and meet, good and bad, because there’s only so many that you’ll have in your high school career, so make the best of it.” Outside of track, Miguel is apart of National Honors Society, Del Norte Trail Building Club, and Boys Team Charity. His favorite advice comes from Coach Stephen to “relax aggressively” after reaching top speed in the 200 meter race. After graduating in the spring, he plans to study electrical engineering in college. Miguel would like to thank his family, friends, and past teammates who mentored and motivated him when I started track.

  • Naja Fonseca

    Naja is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a jumper. Her favorite memory on the team was at CIF D1 Finals at Del Norte when she PR'd in long jump with a jump of 17'6, placing fourth in prelims! Her advice to a younger teammate is, “If you feel something hurting, go do some preventative training to make sure it doesn't get worse! And always make sure to have fun and make friends at every meet! Athletes are the best kind of people!” Outside of track, Naja is apart of Black Student Union & Latino Culture Club. Her favorite advice comes from Coach Jacobs, “What would you tell someone else about their performance and apply it to yourself.” After graduation, Naja plans to major in Psychology at Loyola Marymount University in LA. Naja would like to thank her family for always being there to support her, her coaches for pushing her to be the best athlete and person she can be, and her friends for cheering her on for every accomplishment big or small.

  • Nicole Kaiser

    Nicole is in her 2nd year competing on our track and field team as a pole vaulter. Her favorite memory on the team was going to national pole vault summit in Reno before track season and spending time with her teammates. Her advice to a younger teammate is, "enjoy everything while it last it goes by way to fast." Outside of track, Nicole done ballet my whole life and participated in ASB and link crew. The best advice Nicole has received comes from Coach Ngo “I wouldn't tell you to do it if I did not believe you could." In the fall Nicole has plans to attend Cal Poly Slo for business. Nicole would like to thank Coach Ngo for being such a great vault coach and her family and friends for being the best supporters.

  • Paige Echsner

    Paige is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a Pole Vaulter. Her favorite memory on the team was Sophomore year, our 4x800m team went to Nike Outdoor Nationals. She was the anchor leg and coming into the last 100m stretch, Paige hawked down the first place girl, making them National Champions and also setting a California State Record. Her advice to a younger teammate is, “Always try new events that look fun. You never know what might happen!” Outside of track, Paige also played soccer and ran cross country before shifting her sole focus to pole vault. After graduation, Paige plans to continue her academic and athletic career at UCLA competing in D1 Track and Field as a pole vaulter! Paige would like to thank Coach Ngo for being the best pole vault coach and Coach Mark and CJ for always being encouraging and pushing me to be her best. She also wants to thank her family and friends for being the best supporters.

  • Peyton Leigh

    Peyton is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a pole vaulter. His favorite memory on the team was Going to the national pole vault summit in Reno in the Winter. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Bigger poles means bigger pr’s.” Outside of track, Peyton is apart of NHS, Link Crew, and Surf Club. The best advice he has gotten from Coach Ngo is “if you jump good once you can jump good every time.” He has plans to Attend UCSB in the fall, majoring in Accounting and Economics for 4 years with a focus on pre-law. Peyton would like to thank his Mom, Dad, Coach Ngo, and his sister Allison for inspiring me to start pole vaulting and for being his biggest critic, pushing him to give his all at everything he does.

  • Quinn Davis

    Quinn is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team was Breaking 20 in the 4xmile with Ben, Sean, and Taiyo in sophomore year His advice to a younger teammate is, “The faster you run the faster you’re done.” Outside of track, Quinn is apart of ASB and Nighthawk ambassadors. After graduating in June, he plans to Run Division 1 cross country and track at Saint Mary’s college. Favorite quote from Coach Mark “You can’t be afraid to fail.” Quinn would like to thank Finn for driving him to all the meets.

  • Ryan Remigio Jr.

    Ryan is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memory on the team was Mt. Sac Relays with the 4x1 team his junior year and the bus rides home after away meets. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Have fun and cherish all the memories you make.” Outside of track, Ryan played Football and owns the successful Utss Ube Cookie Company. After graduating in June, he plans to I plan to study kinesiology and become a chiropractor “So hit me up if you want an adjustment or some ube cookies.” Favorite quote from Coach Stephen “A bad day or a bad race doesn’t define who you are” Ryan would would like to first thank Coach Stephen and Coach Ruby for always believing in him even when he didn’t believe in himself. Their faith gave him the confidence to keep pushing forward and that he can achieve my goals. He would also like to thank JP for his support and guidance. The athletic trainers Paul and Savannah for giving him the best recovery treatment. And lastly, thank you to his parents for providing me with great opportunities and to his friends and teammates for all the fun memories that he will cherish for the rest of his life.

  • Sam Siapno

    Sam is in his 1st year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memory on the team was winning gold at Arcadia in the 4×400 and running the 2nd fasted time in school history. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Try new things, have fun, you only live once but if you do it right, once is enough.” Outside of track, Sam is apart of Del Norte’s Basketball team. His favorite quote is “Go get em” from Coach Stephen. After graduating, Sam plans to attend a 4 year university, major in business marketing and get into real estate. Sam would like to thank his family, friends, Coach Stephen and Coach Rugby for pushing him in track and making some of the best memories.

  • Sean Chang

    Alex is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team was Getting Daves with the team after the Mt. Sac 4x1600. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Don't compare yourself to other runners in your school, grade, or state. Running is an individual sport and at the end of the day it's you against you.” Outside of track, Sean is apart of Link Crew, ASB. His favorite quote is from Coach Mark, - "At some point in the race you just gotta say screw it and go" He has plans to pursue civil engineering and hopefully track in college. Sean would like to thank his I would like to thank my family for feeding him every night before the meets, Coach Pablo and Coach Mark for making a 5:40 freshman into the person he is today, and his teammates for inspiring, motivating, and showing him what greatness is every day.

  • Sophia Tang

    Sophia is in her 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. Her favorite memories on the team include playing concentration and word games on long runs, watching the vibrant sunsets on their cooldowns (at 10:00 pace), hosing themselves down in 95-degree weather for mile repeats, ice bathing after hard workouts, or even just conversations on runs! Her advice to a younger teammate is, “enjoy every moment, since it definitely flies by way quicker than you would expect.” Outside of track, Sophia is also apart of Cross Country and Featheralist. Sophia would like to thank her family (for attending the meets and getting her splits), her coaches (who always give the best advice), and her teammates (for being the best people to run and talk with, making practice so much fun).

  • Taiyo Iwazaki

    Taiyo is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the on the team has been watching the team transform over the course of 4 years. From a lazy last place team, to now a disciplined CIF winning competitive team. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Enjoy track and cherish your friends' company because down the line in life you will look back on these moments and remember all the memories.” Outside of track, Taiyo is apart of Nighthawk Ambassadors, ASB, Link Crew, Surf Club and Cross Country. His favorite quote comes from Coach Mark, “If you go into a race thinking that you will lose, then you probably will.” After graduating, Taiyo plans to study quantitative economics at Purdue University. Taiyo would like to thank his oldest sister Risa for introducing him to running, his mom and dad for supporting him & driving him to meets, Coach Mark (especially Coach Mark), Coach Pablo & Coach Jacobs, for helping to build the team culture from ground up, Coach Ruby for doing an amazing job running the instagram, and the boys for going through all the workouts and memories together.

  • Tay Kim

    Tay is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team was My favorite track memory is racing in the rain during the CCA and Otay Ranch Meet and getting food after meets with friends. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Don't skip practice because you don't feel like it. The races will just hurt more.” Outside of track, Tay is apart of Red Cross and Korean Student Association. Post graduation, he has plans to study bioengineering at a 4-year university and then go to grad school. Tay would like to thank his family for always supporting him, Matthew for always keeping him accountable when he skips practices, and Coach Mark and Coach Pablo for always pushing him and helping him run faster.

  • Tristan Harpster

    Tristan is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team was Competing at state in the 4x8 my sophomore season and winning CIF in Cross Country. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Make lots of friends during practice and at invites and cherish your races at big meets like Arcadia and Mt. Sac because you only get so many.” Outside of track, Tristan is apart of Nighthawk Ambassadors and Del Norte ASB. Hi favorite quote comes from Coach Ramirez, “No Puppies at Del Norte, only the Big Dogs today.” He has plans to attend a 4 year University as an Engineering major. Tristan would like to thank his family for supporting him at home with balancing academics and he wants to thank Mark for believing in him even at his worst when he was injured. Also big shoutout to his teammates for helping build a winning and competitive culture for both Track and XC.

  • Tristan Kyle

    Tristan is in his 2nd year competing on our track and field team as a jumper and sprinter. His favorite memory on the team was breaking the school record with his teammates for shuttle hurdles last year. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Don’t make the coach’s mad.” Outside of track, Tristan is apart of Football and Lacrosse. His favorite advice comes from Coach Jacob’s “Just lock in.” He has plans to attend college in the fall. Tristan would like to thank his Coaches for pushing him to keep going even with his attitude and his family for helping him.

This year we were lucky enough to have photographer and Nighthawk parent, Arturo Vargas come and take portraits of our seniors. He graciously gave his time to take these photos for your athletes + families to enjoy, asking for nothing in exchange. Our program compensated him but we encourage any families who feel called to support his work to share a "tip" with him as well.   • Sophia Abola

    Sophia is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a pole vaulter. Her favorite memory on the team is going to Pole Vault Summit in Reno with the vault team. Her advice to a younger teammate is, “If you’re going to pole vault, know how to jump.” Outside of track, Sophia is apart of our cheer team and Kapamilya. She has plans to attend UC Santa Barbara for chemical engineering. Fun fact about Sophia, she can do a backflip! Sophia would like to thank her family, friends, and Coach Ngo for pushing her to be her best.

  • Neel Agnihotri

    Neel is in his 4th year of competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memory on the team is, “coming back from ACL rehab faster than before, and subsequently PRing by over half a second in the 100m.” His advice to a younger teammate is, “Quality over quantity, do every workout and warm up with intention.” Fun fact about Neel, he’s been a varsity runner since his freshman year! Neel would like to thank his dad, Parag, and his mom, Rakhi, for always supporting him and cheering him on during meets.

  • Peter Akinpleu

    Peter is in his 2nd year of competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. Peter’s favorite memory on th team is watching teammate Danny break our school record in the 300m hurdles at state championships. “It’s fun to cheer for someone who you know worked everyday to better himself and those around him.” Outside of track, Peter is a part of Nighthawk Ambassadors, Link Crew, and NHS. He would like to thank his parents, who have guided and taken care of him since the beginning. Peter is also grateful for a loving community of teammates, coaches, and friends, who affirm him to be the person he is today.

  • Evan Aparri

    Evan is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team is running to Board and Brew during winter track of his junior year. Evan’s advice to a younger teammate is, “Don’t be discouraged from comparing yourself with others. Focus on yourself and your own self-improvement.” Outside of track, Evan is a part of our cross country team, Science Olympiad, and Kapamilya. Fun fact about Evan, he’s finished the 1600m in 4:55 4 times in a row! Evan would like to thank his family and friends for their support throughout his track career.

  • Natalie Baza

    Natalie is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. Her favorite memory on the team is from the last meet of the 2023 track season at Del Norte High School against San Marcos. “My teammates and I doordashed Jamba Juice after our 1600 and the vibes of the meet were amazing overall! It was definitely an amazing way to end my junior year of track.” Her advice to a younger teammate is Drink lots of water the night before and morning of your race to avoid getting cramps, especially if you're in distance. Outside of track Natalie is also apart of the Del Norte Cross Country team, Del Norte Latino Culture Club, and AIM2CREATE. Fun fact about Natalie, she used to dance hip hop competetively for 3 years. Natalie would like to thank “my family, coaches, and especially my teammates for always encouraging me to push harder. There is never a meet where they aren't on the sideline cheering my name. :)”

  • Tabitha Bergem

    Tabitha is in her 3rd year of competing on our track and field team as a thrower. Her favorite memory on the team is playing soccer and football with her teammates during spring break. Her advice to a younger teammate is, “Have fun and don’t take anything seriously.” Outside of track, Tabitha is part of ASB, Link Crew, and is a Football Manager. She has plans to attend Grand Canyon University, majoring in sports psychology and minoring in christian studies. Fun fact about Tabitha, she had no idea what throwing was before she joined our team! Tabitha would like to thank her mom, dad, and friends for their support!

  • Brianna Busse

    Bri is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. Her favorite memory on the team is “Track state meet 2023--a very fun four days spent playing Secret Hitler, predicting meet results, enjoying hotel waffles, going to Jamba Juice...and running, I guess”. Her advice to younger teammates is “Your four years will go by faster than you think they will, so enjoy every moment. You will miss it when you are done!”. Outside of track Bri is also apart of Ambassadors, SSAC, Equity Alliance and Student Athlete Mental Health Union. Fun fact about Bri, she is I am an aspiring food reviewer (@briannasfood on Instagram) and hopes at some point she’ll be successful enough to get free food at restaurants, “but we'll see how that turns out...” Bri would like to thank Her dad, Doodle; Her coaches, CJ, Mark, Pablo, Ruby, Stephen; all of her teammates!!

  • Ella Echsner

    Ella is in her 4th year of competing on our track and field team as a hurdler and distance runner. Her favorite memory on the team is winning the California State Meet in the 4x800 relay and the Nike Outdoor National Meet in the 4x800 relay with teammates Paige Echsner, Emily Russo, and Hannah Riggins. Ella’s advice to a younger teammate is to “always believe in yourself because confidence is truly key”. Outside of track, Ella is apart of Female Athlete Volunteers, Link Crew, Del Norte Surf Club, and Torrey Pines State Lifeguard Assistants. Ella has plans to continue her running career at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for Division 1 Cross Country and Track and Field. Fun fact about Ella, she loves to surf! Ella would like to thank her parents, Coach Jacobs, Coach Mark, Coach Ruby, and Coach Emily, “for being my supporters throughout my high school cross country and track career”.

  • Nicole Edelstein

    Nicole is in her 2nd year of competing on our track and field team as a pole vaulter and sprinter. Her favorite memory on the team is winning her sprinting heats at her first meet as a sprinter. Nicole’s advice to a younger teammate is to enjoy every moment of the season because it flies by fast. She would like to thank friends Chloe and Sophia for pressuring to her to join track (one of the best decisions she has made), her teammates for always making her laugh at practice, her parents for being her #1 supporters, and her coaches for pushing her to be her best.

  • Taylor Ellis

    Taylor is in her 4th year competing on the track and field team as a thrower. Her favorite memory on the team is her first time competing. “Coach Kuelbs forgot to tell me the rules of the meet and I accidentally scratched.” She also loves the bus rides back after winning away meets. Taylor’s advice to a younger teammate is to “ask questions when you don’t understand, and pay attention to the detailed corrections coaches give you.” Outside of track, Taylor participates in sideline and competition cheerleading. She would like to thank her mom for suggesting that she try throws, as well as Nighthawk alumni Nicole for being so welcoming to her during her first year of being on the team. After high school, Taylor plans to pursue a major in nursing.

  • Valentino Farre

    Valentino is in his 1st year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team is “cooking Jonathan and Derrick in basketball on their home court, and then cooking my sons again on the track minutes later.” His advice to a younger teammate is, “Have goals and never lose sight of them! You might not make it there, but you’ll never know unless you try your hardest!” Outside of track, Valentino participates in swim, water polo, Bridges of Voices, and NCSP. He would like to thank teammate Jordan Levy for pushing him to his full potential, as well as Coaches Mark and Pablo for being so welcoming and supportive.

    Gavin is in his 3rd year of competing on the track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memories on the team are on long runs with Matthew and Evan, especially “flaming Evan for watching ‘interesting’ TikTok livestreams.” Outside of track, Gavin is a part of our cross country team and band program. He plans to pursue a major in engineering after graduating.

    Sean is in his 3rd year of competing on the track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memory on the team is going to Chik-Fil-A after the Rancho Bernardo dual meet this year. Sean’s advice to a younger teammate is, “Stay relaxed while running.” Outside of track, Sean is a part of our DNHS band program. Fun fact about Sean, he’s been running since cross country in middle school! Sean would like to thank his family for their support throughout his track career.

    Marissa is in her 3rd year of competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. Her favorite memories on the team are exploring the canyons in Del Sur on long runs with the distance girls. “It really makes me appreciate how beautiful our community is, and it’s super fun exploring new places with my team.” Her advice to a younger teammate is, “You can either hurt and run slow, or hurt and run fast.” Outside of track, Marissa is a part of our cross country team, Kapamilya, and WHAT Tutoring. Fun fact about Marissa, her go-to pre-race meal is always peanut butter and bananas on toast! Marissa would like to thank the distance coaches for all of their support through her track career. She would also like to thank her parents, “for always attending meets when they can”, and the distance girls team for making track such a meaningful and memorable experience!

    Ethan is in his 4th year of competing on our track and field team as a thrower. His favorite memory on the team is, “The thrower’s beach day! Even though it was freezing, it was an awesome day!” His advice to a younger teammate is “don’t work yourself to exhaustion. If you feel like you’re going to injure yourself, take it easy.” Fun fact about Ethan, he loves to wakeboard and rollerblade!     Aadit is in his 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter and jumper. His favorite memory on the team is when the entire jumps team PR’d at the Rancho Bernardo meet this year. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Enjoy your four years because they will go by pretty quick.” Outside of track, Aadit is apart of Nighthawk Ambassadors, Zipline Theory, and NHS.     Chris is in his 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter and jumper. His favorite memory on the team is winning first place at the Dick Wilkins Frosh/Soph meet for the 4x100. His advice to a younger teammate is, “just have fun.” Outside of track, Chris is apart of DNHS’s football team as well as DECA. Fun fact about Chris, he is Mexican and Filipino! Chris would like to thank his family, friends, and “those who got a brothers’ back” for their support throughout his track career.

    Joseph is in his 1st year of competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memory on the team is Coach Ruby suggesting he should compete in the 4x100m. “Oh my gosh! I freaked out because I hadn’t done it before but she believed in me, and guess what… I did it!” Joseph’s advice to a younger teammate is, “If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. Always keep moving and know who you are!” Outside of track, Joseph participates in semi-soccer pro and has future plans to become a professional soccer player. Joseph would like to thank his family, coaches, and teammates, “for their support, encouragement, and love they have shown me during the season.”

    Oliver is in his 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memory on the team is running the 4x100 at CIFs in 2023. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Get used to pain.” Outside of track, Oliver is apart of Del Norte’s football team. Oliver has plans to attend Virginia Tech to major in Aerospace Engineering.     Derrick is in his 1st year of competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team is “running with friends during tempo.” Derrick’s advice to a younger teammate is, “track isn’t as hard as you think it is.” Outside of track, Derrick is a part of our swim and dive team, Bridges of Voices, and NCSP. Derrick says, “I would like to thank my parents, friends and coaches for helping me become the person I am today. Thanks to my mom for always supporting me through preparing food for me before meets and taking time out of your way to drive me. Thanks to my friends, especially Jordan, who have encouraged me at practices and meets. And thanks to my coaches for guiding and pushing me to the runner I am today.”

  • Gannon Kaminetz

    Gannon is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memory on the team is The night hike at the end of winter track my sophomore year. His advice to a younger teammate is “Stretch them calves”. Outside of track Gannon is also apart of Best Buddies, American Red Cross, Jazz Band & Marching Band. After graduating, Gannon plans to achieve a degree in political science, go through law school, become a lawyer and later a public official. Fun fact about Gannon, he plays the jazz trombone. Gannon would like to thank his coaches, family, teammates, friends, and all the former nighthawk track members who made me love the sport.

  • Zackary Keller

    Zack is in his 3rd year of competing on our track and field team as a thrower. His favorite memory on the team is playing soccer and football with the throwing team after spring break practice. Zack’s advice to a younger teammate is “whatever you do in life, make sure you have fun.” Outside of track, Zack participates in Robotics Club and boy scouts. He would like to thank his mom, dad, and grandparents for their support throughout his track career.

  • Dylan Kim

    Dylan is in his 4th year of competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memories are of going on long runs with fellow distance runners and having impactful conversations with teammates. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Relax. If you are relaxed, your mind is untroubled, and your muscles will be loose and fast.” Dylan has future plans to major in Biology at CSU Monterey Bay. Fun fact about Dylan, he loves to bake! Dylan would like to thank his parents for reminding him to enjoy every moment on the team.

  • Owen Kim

    Owen is in his 4th year of competing on our track and field team as a distance runner, sprinter, and hurdler. Owen has no particular favorite memory on the team, but loves to share knowledge and experience with fellow teammates. “It’s a good feeling to be seen as an admirable and helpful person by others.” Owen’s advice to a younger teammate is to “take it day by day, it helps with your mental health.” Outside of track, Owen is a part of Del Norte’s choir. Owen would like to thank his family for all of their support through the years. “They were with me even in moments where it inconvenienced them. I would also like to thank my twin brother Dylan for going through this 4 years journey with me.” Owen would like to thank his teammates as well for making his track experience “worth sticking around for”.

    Alex is in his 4th year of competing on the track and field team as a jumper. His favorite memory on the team is hitting a PR of 5’10” at league finals last season, which allowed him to overcome a huge mental barrier. His advice to a younger teammate is, “Persevere through your injuries, listen to coach and stay consistent.” Outside of track, Alex is a Nighthawk Ambassador and a part of Link Crew. Fun fact about Alex, he has two german shepherds! Alex has plans to continue jumping at CalTech, and would like to thank Coach Jacobs for helping him through his jumping journey.

  • Cooper Lappin

    Cooper is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter and jumper. His favorite memory on the team is when Coach Stephen told him he was running the 800m. “With no training, I still won the race outkicking three other guys in the last 100 meters.” His advice to a younger teammate is “Do your toe taps.” Outside of track, Cooper is apart of Students Transforming Through Christ, Jazz Band, and Marching Band. He has plans to earn a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering. Fun fact about Cooper, he didn’t mean to be a sprinter! “I just joined track freshman year during COVID track and ended up here because I didn’t want to talk to the coaches.” Cooper says, “I would like to thank God for blessing me with the talents that I have, my parents for always supporting me at every meet, my brothers for giving me training advice, all the teammates that have helped me with my technique, and my coaches for growing me into the athlete I am today.”

  • Jordan Levy

    Jordan is in his 4th year of competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team is running to the beach with Ethan, Mitch, and Vinny after each cross country and track season ends. Jordan’s advice to a younger teammate is, “Keep working hard and stay confident in yourself.” Outside of track, Jordan is a part of our cross country team, SuperIntendent’s Student Advisory Council, Bridge of Voices, NHS, and Link Crew. Jordan is also an Event Coordinator at his Synagogue, Captain of the NCSP Soccer team, and works at In-N-Out! Jordan will soon attend NYU, planning on running on their cross country and track teams. Fun fact about Jordan, he has been apart of the team since their Quarantine Zoom Meetings in 2020! Jordan would like to thank his family, friends, and coaches, who always motivate him to work his hardest and succeed in everything he does.

    Abbi is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a jumper & sprinter. Her favorite memory on the team is Jumping at Leagues Freshman year and “hearing my teammates cheer for me.” Her advice to a younger teammate is “Embrace the pain and allow yourself to grow from it”. Outside of track Abbi is also apart of Ambassadors, SSAC, Equity Alliance and Student Athlete Mental Health Union. Fun fact about Abbi, Anna is her best friend :). Abbi would like to thank “my family for always loving me, my friends for being the reason I like high school, and my coaches for pushing me to be the best I can be.”

  • Kellen Maciejewski

    Kellen is in his 4th year of competing on our track and field team as a thrower. His favorite memory on the team is “bonding with my teammates and winning league finals in discus”. His advice to a younger teammate is to “stay dedicated and don’t give up. Improvement might not be very fast but it will eventually come.” Outside of track, Kellen is a part of our waterpolo team. He has plans to major in criminology, then work in law enforcement. Fun fact about Kellen, he was originally planning on becoming a sprinter on the team before trying throwing! Kellen would like to thank his family for their support throughout his track career.

    Nathan is in his 2nd year of competing on our track and field team as a thrower. His favorite memories on the team are eating food after track meets with his team. “It’s so fun talking and hanging out with everybody.” Nathan’s advice to a younger teammates is, “Use wrist straps”. Outside of track, Nathan is a part of Kapamilya. Fun fact about Nathan, he can bench 245z! Nathan would like to thank his parents for always randomly showing up to meets. “It’s always nice seeing them support me in everything I do.”

She has plans to attend Point Loma Nazarene University, pursuing a major in political science!

  • Amelia Neer

    Amelia is in her 2nd year of competing on our track and field team as a thrower. Her favorite memory on the team is playing ultimate tennis after the first meet of the season got canceled. “We were all cold and it was pouring rain, but this was the first chance we got to bond as a team and make fun memories together.” Amelia’s advice to a younger teammate is to not let one bad throw affect the rest. “It is okay to make mistakes but your attitude is a choice and it is important to stay positive.” Outside of track, Amelia is a part of marching band, GIRLS club, NHS, and HOSA. Fun fact about Amelia, she’s been hit in the knee by a discus before! Amelia would like to thank her parents for their support and attending every one of her meets.

    Anna is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. Her favorite memory on the team is Creating 4x400 relay team bracelets with teammates (Lauren and Ella) in the hotel before the state meet! Her advice to a younger teammate is “Seize any opportunities and make every moment count! Keep on putting in your best effort! IMPORTANT: don't skip the cool down!!”. Outside of track Anna is also apart of Soccer, Student Athlete Mental Health Union and Asian Pop Culture Club. Fun fact about Anna, Abbi is her best friend :). Anna would like to thank her family for always supporting her! As well as her teammates for hyping her up on the sidelines during races and inspiring me to work hard every time she steps on the track. “I would also like to give a shoutout to the coaches for their encouraging advice and pushing me to be the best athlete I can be..”

    Dean is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a hurdler, sprinter, and member of our relays. His favorite memory on the team is PR'ing twice at league finals. His advice to a younger teammate is to Analyze your videos to see where you can improve. Outside of track Dean is also apart of Nighthawk Ambassadors, Peer Counseling. Fun fact about Dean, “I wasn't able to walk or run as a freshman so I started out as a thrower.” Dean would like to thank his family, Coach Stephen and Ruby, his friends, and everyone who believed in him.

    Andrew is in his 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a thrower. His favorite memory on the team is getting his first double PR and being named “Thrower of the Meet”! His advice to a younger teammate is to “find a motivation that won’t falter anywhere in the season, so they can always get up when they fall”. Outside of track, Andrew participates in Boy Scouts. He has plans to attend Cal Poly Pomona to major in Civil Engineering. Andrew would like to thank his mom, who always showed up to meets to cheer him on.

    Ben is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter and jumper. His favorite memory on the team is earning his varsity letter through a major PR in long jump! Ben’s advice to a younger teammate is to take stretches seriously. Fun fact about Ben, he hasn’t had any major injuries through all 4 seasons of competing on the team! Ben would like to thank his parents for pushing him to join track and never missing a meet, as well as his grandparents, who would attend every meet they could.

  • Josh Spurgiesz

    Josh is in his 4th year of competing on our track and field team as a sprinter and hurdler. His favorite memory on the team is “jumping into the pool on long runs.” Josh’s advice to a younger teammate is to always remember to stretch! Outside of track, Josh is a part of our cross country team, as well as SD Frisbee League (fun fact about Josh, he scored within the Top 5 all time scores in the league!). Josh has plans to study cybersecurity at Northern Arizona University. He would like to thank Coach Mark for pushing him to run his best, his family for supporting him throughout his track career, and Stanley Yan for motivating him throughout his years on the team.

    Leo is in his 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a vaulter. His favorite memory on the team is going to Reno with the vault team. Leo’s advice to a younger teammate is, “Make every jump count.” Leo has plans to continue vaulting to study mechanical engineering at MIT. Fun fact about Leo, he’s actually scared of heights! Leo would like to thank Coach Ngo, his teammates, and parents for always supporting him.

  • Jazair Tallman

    Jazair is in his 2nd year of compeing on our track and field tem as a sprinter. His favorite memories on the team are warming up on the field with his friends before racing, as well as cheering teammates on during their events. Jazair’s advice to a younger teammate is to go to as many practices as you can. Outside of track, Jazair participates in badminton, SACS, Linkcrew, and NHS. He would like to hank his family and friends for all of their support throughout his track career.

    Tristan is in his 2nd year competing on our track and field team as a thrower. His favorite memory on the team is, “Generally competing in throws and cheering teammates on at away meets.” Tristan’s advice to a younger teammate is, “You are going to have off days and on days, but always strive to improve.” Outside of track, Tristan is apart of Kapamilya and loves to play guitar and piano!   • Chloe Tseng

    Choe is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a pole vaulter. Her favorite memory on the team is being five minutes late to practice and being entered into an open 400m, her first race ever. “It was painful and I blame my teammates for giving me the advice of ‘just gun it’, but it has made for one amazing story. If you had the pleasure to witness this 400m race of champs you know exactly why.” Outside of track, Chloe is apart of our cheer team. Chloe has plans to attend Cornell University to study bioengineering. Fun fact about Chloe, she can do a backflip! Chloe would like to thank Coach Ngo for his support throughout her track career. “He taught me so much about perseverance and what it means to be a leader.”

    Jake is in his 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. His favorite memory on the team is competing in the 4x100 for CIF Finals. Jake’s advice to a younger teammate is, “Don’t be lazy”. Outside of track, Jake is a part of DNHS’s football team and has plans to pursue both track and football in college.     Ethan is in his 4th year of competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memories on the team are watching the NFL Draft during practice, as well as seeing a rattlesnake on a run! Ethan’s advice to a younger teammate is, “Don’t skip out on stretching. It works and you will get hurt otherwise.” Outside of track, Ethan is apart of our cross country team, NCSP Soccer League, and SD Frisbee League (Fun fact, he placed 4th in the league for All Time Assists!). Ethan has plans to continue playing frisbee as well as major in finance at the University of Lehigh. He would like to thank Coach Mark for supporting his passion for frisbee and playing frisbee with him after practice, as well as teammates Stanley Yan for giving him motivation throughout his track career, Jordan Levi for making practice worth attending, and Josh Spurgiesz “for scoring every time I slung you that frisbee”.

    Jonathan is in his 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team is beating Valentino in the 800m race by 3 nanoseconds. Jonathan’s advice to a younger teammate is, “Stay hard as a stone, fly like a bird, run like a Bill.” Outside of track, Jonathan is a part of Bridge of Voices and NCSP. He has plans to study Mechanical Engineering at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Fun fact about Jonathan, his favorite distance run is Bird House!   • Elana Basto

    Elana is in her 2nd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter and jumper. Her favorite memory on the team is karaoke on the bus rides home from meets. After graduating, Elana plans to become a relator and open up her own real estate brokerage. She loves sushi and the beach. Elana would like to thank her family and friends for always supporting her throughout her life. “I love you guys”

    Elijah is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team is the 4x4 relay he ran at the end of last season. After graduating, Elijah plans to go on a church mission and then attend college. He loves to read, play piano, eat food and hang out with friends. Elijah would like to thank his coaches.

    Alison is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter and jumper. Her favorite memory is running the 4x100 with her friends every meet. Alison is a member of NHS and the Jewelry Club. She loves growing/taking care of plants. Alison would like to thank her friends for making track so fun and memorable!

  • Alicia Ji

    Alicia is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. Her favorite memory, “the 4x4 relays at the end of each meet. It's not a specific moment, but whether I'm running in this event or not, I always look forward to the energy from our team while we cheer our teams on!” In addition to our track and field team, Alicia is also a part of DECA and is a Nighthawk Ambassador. Fun fact, she grew up in Minnesota where she lived. Alicia would to thank, “all of my coaches, my teammates--especially the seniors who graduated last year--and my family.”

  • Savana Jones

    Savanna is in her 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. Her favorite memory on the team is Running my first 4x4 in the 2021-2022 season at the rb dual meet. “I almost passed out and couldn’t see in the last 100 meters but I was only 2nd, behind our A team, in the first leg.” In addition to track, Savanna is a Varsity Golfer, as well as a member of both The Food Bank Club and The National Honors Society. Fun fact, she loves French bulldogs. After graduating, Savanna plans to attend a four year university and be happy. She would like to thank her parents and boyfriend for supporting her in all my meets and her grandpa for inspiring her to work her hardest in everything she does.

  • Arnav Kanekar

    Arnav is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team was when he first broke 5 in the 1600 as a sophomore against Rancho Bernardo. “I had come really close to breaking 5 in the previous meet. Being able to get a win and break 5 for the first time was a great experience.” Arnav is also apart of our Cross Country team and Band. Fun fact about him: he once ran 70 miles in a week because Coach Jacobs said he should. Arnav would like to thank his family and the distance team for all their support.

  • Ava Llamas

    Ava is in her 3rd year competing on our track and field team as a hurdler and sprinter. Her favorite track memory was “hanging out with my events group after CIF prelims. A lot of friends came to support, and our team got really close throughout practice for Leagues and CIFS!.” In addition to our team, she is apart of National Honors Society, Student Athlete Mental Health Union and Link Crew.” After graduating, she is looking forward to attending UCSB to study Environmental Studies and Marine Science, and would love to travel to different countries soon!” Fun fact, her first event she was put in her freshman year was triple jump. Ava would love to thank “my family for always supporting me, my track teammates for making practice a fun place to be, and Coach Ruby for always believing in me!”

  • Hannah Riggins

    Hannah is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. Her favorite memory comes from her junior year when she qualified for the 1600 final with a PR and going sub 4:50 and podiuming in the final. In addition to our team, she is apart of nighthawk ambassadors, ASB, WHAT Center, link crew, student athlete mental health union president, and environmental activism. Hannah would like to thank the DNHS Athletic foundation, Coach Jacobs and her family.

  • Alyssa Sutherland

    Alyssa is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter. Her favorite memory on the team was Destroying Coach Stephen in coach Olympics with the 4x1 team, while he ran a 400. In addition to track, Alyssa also plays soccer and is a 3-sport varsity athlete. After graduating, Alyssa plans to attend UCCS to play division 2 soccer. She would like to thank her family, friends, and coaches for always supporting her and cheering her on.

  • Kaylee Tan

    Kaylee is in her 4th year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter, jumper and pole vaulter. Her favorite memory on the team was vaulting 10ft my first meet ever and beating the sophomore record in pole vault. In addition to track, Kaylee is president of chinese club, a part of ASB and our soccer team. Fun fact about Kaylee, she is extremely good at stalking athletic.net. She would like to thank Coach Stephen and Coach Ngo

  • Kloe Taylor

    Kloe is in her 2nd year competing on our track and field team as a jumper and hurdler. Her favorite memory on the team was PR-ing at league finals, getting first in her heat for the first time ever, and getting Somisomi after with the team. In addition to track, Kloe is also a member of our Varsity Basketball Team. Fun fact about Kloe, “I love bagels”. She would like to thank her amazing teammates, alumni, and coaches that made track such a fun experience for her.

  • Danny Tragarz

    Danny is in his 2nd year competing on our track and field team as a sprinter, jumper and hurdler. His favorite memory on the team was PRing by a second in the 300 hurdles at CIF Finals without chasing anyone. In addition to track, Danny is president of catan club, a member of the Varsity Soccer Team, as well as Israeli Scouts of San Diego. Fun fact about Danny, “Track is Free”. After graduating Danny plans to attend college. He would like to thank his Mom and Dad, “for always coming to support me at meets and being there for me when I need help with anything.”

  • David Xie

    David is in his 4th year competing on our track and field team as a distance runner. His favorite memory on the team was the ice breakers on the first day of track. In addition to track, David is apart of our Cross Country and Science Olympiad Teams. Fun fact about David, he accidentally taught himself how to sprint. He would like to thank his Parents, older sister, younger sister, track friends and best friend.
